CASAR CRANE WIRE ROPE – SPECIALIZED WIRE ROPE FOR INDUSTRIAL LIFTING SYSTEMS
1. What is CASAR crane wire rope?
CASAR crane wire rope is a premium high-performance wire rope specifically designed for overhead cranes, gantry cranes, electric hoists, mobile cranes, and heavy-duty lifting equipment operating in demanding industrial environments.
CASAR wire ropes are manufactured by CASAR Drahtseilwerk Saar GmbH (Germany) – a leading European brand in high-technology wire ropes, well known for products offering:
High load capacity
Effective rotation resistance
Excellent fatigue performance
Stable operation under severe working conditions
CASAR wire ropes are widely used in steel plants, seaports, mining, cement factories, power plants, offshore applications, and industrial logistics.
Structure and characteristics of CASAR SuperPlast 8 crane wire rope
Wire:
High tensile steel wires selected according to application requirements, ensuring an optimal balance between load capacity – fatigue resistance – and flexibility.
Strand:
Compacted strands are used to increase the fill factor, enhance breaking load, and reduce surface wear during operation.
Core:
Depending on the rope type, CASAR applies different core configurations:
Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC)
Rotation-resistant steel core for advanced lifting applications
Plastic layer (optional):
Retains lubricant, absorbs dynamic loads, reduces internal friction, and minimizes structural damage under heavy-duty working conditions.

3. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD WIRE ROPE MANUFACTURERS
Lifting wire ropes are manufactured by many reputable global factories and OEM suppliers, fully meeting stringent technical requirements for overhead cranes, gantry cranes, hoists, and industrial lifting systems, including:
CASAR Wire Rope (Germany) – a leading European brand specializing in high-performance crane and lifting wire ropes, known for high load capacity, excellent rotation resistance, and outstanding fatigue life.
Bridon-Bekaert Wire Rope (UK / Belgium) – a long-established industrial wire rope manufacturer supplying lifting ropes that meet European and international standards, suitable for heavy and continuous duty operations.
Teufelberger Wire Rope (Austria) – a well-known brand for advanced wire rope technology, with strict control of rotational stability, structural precision, and long service life.
Kiswire Wire Rope (South Korea) – one of Asia’s major wire rope manufacturers, providing lifting ropes compliant with DIN, EN, and ISO standards, widely used in heavy industry and infrastructure projects.
WireCo / Union / Usha Martin – international manufacturers offering a wide range of crane, port, mining, and oil & gas wire ropes.
OEM wire ropes manufactured in accordance with DIN / EN / ISO standards – produced to specific technical requirements and widely used in steel mills, cement plants, warehouses, and industrial zones.
Selecting the correct manufacturer, applicable standard, and rope origin ensures operational safety, reduces premature damage, and optimizes the total lifecycle cost of lifting systems.
4. Important considerations when purchasing CASAR SuperPlast 8 crane wire rope
Rope type & construction
Select the correct construction for the application (standard rope, rotation-resistant, compacted strand, plastic-coated, etc.). The rope construction directly determines flexibility, fatigue resistance, and stability when operating over sheaves and drums.
• Working load & safety factor
Do not select rope based solely on Minimum Breaking Load (MBL). Determine the actual lifting load, dynamic load, duty cycle (frequency and cycles), and lifting height to ensure an appropriate safety factor according to system technical requirements.
• Sheave & drum diameter (D/d ratio)
Ensure a sufficient D/d ratio to reduce bending fatigue and prevent premature wire breakage. Undersized sheaves or drums are a common cause of early rope failure even when loads are within design limits.
• Left-hand / right-hand lay & drum winding direction
Check the lay direction (S/Z) and drum winding direction to avoid rope displacement, uneven wear, strand opening, or tangling. When replacing an existing rope, match the original lay direction or follow the manufacturer’s recommendation.
• Working environment & surface protection
For outdoor, humid, marine, or dusty environments, consider appropriate surface finish (galvanized / non-galvanized) and lubrication quality. For heavy dynamic loads, ropes with lubricant retention design or plastic layers may extend service life.
• Rope core & multi-layer spooling conditions
Certain applications require IWRC for higher stability and crush resistance, especially in multi-layer spooling. Selecting the wrong core or construction in multi-layer spooling may cause rope crushing, cross-over damage, and premature failure.
• Compatible accessories & sheave/drum groove condition
The rope must be compatible with sheaves, drums, hooks, and clamps of correct specifications and groove dimensions. Many early failures result from worn or incorrect groove profiles rather than rope quality.
• Inspection upon delivery & initial installation
Check diameter, length, labeling/marking, surface condition, CO/CQ certificates, and installation instructions. During installation, avoid dragging, sharp bending, or twisting the rope. A light break-in run is recommended before full-load operation.
