Learn about medium voltage measuring devices and instructions on how to use medium voltage clamp meters. This is a type of device used to measure currents from 1kV-35kV. If you do not fully understand this device, VPIC will explain it to you right away.

1.What is medium voltage?
Medium voltage is the electrical conductors located inside the voltage level from 1kV-35kV equivalent to 1000V – 35000V.
With this voltage level, it is possible to cause a discharge phenomenon if the allowable safety distance is violated. Medium voltage power lines use insulated wires and bare wires on the poles made of insulating porcelain.
Medium voltage conductors are installed on medium voltage poles made of centrifugal concrete with a height of 9m to 12m. The insulating porcelain poles mounted on the poles are usually supporting porcelain or hanging porcelain.
Medium voltage current has the ability to carry voltages up to 35000V serving most fields such as industrial zones, power plants. The safe distance within the allowable range of medium voltage is as follows:
For voltages from 1kV – 15kV, the distance is 0.7 meters.
For voltage from 15kV – 35kV the distance is 1.00 meter
2.What device is used to measure medium voltage?

The device used to measure medium voltage has two names: ammeter or clamp ammeter.
This is a modern electric meter that can be used to measure voltage up to 35000V.
In particular, the device can measure current outdoors, measure distortion directly on the medium voltage line that is carrying electricity.
With an external design with a high insulation shell to ensure safety during use. The device is designed with an insulating pole with a length of 9 meters to 13 meters and can be extended or shortened to suit the height of the medium voltage line.
3.Instructions for using medium voltage clamp meter
How to use this device step by step as follows:
Step 1: select the medium voltage scale marked V on the clamp meter pole.
Step 2: open the clamp to contact the medium voltage wire.
Step 3: press the start button to start the process of measuring the medium voltage current.
Step 4: see the results right on the display screen on the medium voltage clamp meter.
