The HICONICS HIVERT-Y/T medium voltage inverter supports a wide voltage range from 3.3 kV to 11 kV and motor power from 315 kW up to 20,000 kW, fully meeting the requirements of heavy-duty industrial applications.

 

 

The main control system is based on the TI TMS320F28335 digital signal processor, offering high precision, low power consumption, high efficiency, large program and data storage capacity, and fast, accurate A/D conversion. The TMS320F28335 operates at up to 150 MHz with a 32-bit architecture, 6 DMA channels, and supports ADC, McBSP, and EMIF interfaces.

 

 

Synchronous transfer:  

Phase-locked loop (PLL) technology is used to regulate the inverter output voltage, ensuring real-time synchronization of frequency, phase position, and amplitude. Multi-motor synchronous transfer allows sequential starting of up to four MV motors, with speed control applied to the final motor.

 

Flying start:  

Also known as “speed search start”. When the motor is already rotating, the inverter automatically estimates motor speed and outputs a matching voltage waveform. Starting current is limited to the rated value, preventing overcurrent faults. This function is commonly used during automatic restart after power loss.

 

Instant power loss ride-through:  

In case of grid voltage dip or sudden power loss shorter than 1000 ms, the Hiconics medium voltage inverter can continue operating normally.

 

Torque boost:  

For applications requiring high starting torque, the inverter increases output voltage at low frequency to enhance motor torque during low-speed startup.

 

 

Master-slave control:  

In multi-inverter systems, torque and load conditions are analyzed to balance motor speed and torque via fiber-optic communication.

 

Dual-winding motor control:  

Dual-winding motors offer higher power factor and efficiency. HICONICS inverters control dual-winding motors at maximum speed under half load and half speed under full load, improving overall system stability.

 

Power Cell braking:  

Designed for applications requiring rapid braking at low frequency, where regenerative energy is dissipated as heat.

 

Neutral point shifting:  

If one power cell fails, the remaining power cells adjust output voltage by shifting phase positions, maintaining normal VFD output and continuous operation.
